Summary

A card game designed and built with Dominik over years of study, with a digital multiplayer version now in the works with Ānrán.

Overview

Crazy Deck is a card game designed and created together with Dominik Hauser over the course of our computer science studies at the University of Hamburg. It began in November 2017 as a side project and evolved continuously alongside our studies. The game has gone through many iterations, playtests, and redesigns - and is now in the process of getting a digital multiplayer version, with Ānrán Wáng joining the team.

Design Philosophy

Crazy Deck was designed to be easy to pick up but hard to master, with a focus on social interaction and surprising turn reversals. The physical version was hand-illustrated and hand-assembled, which gave the whole project a personal character that mass-produced games rarely have. [TODO: describe the core game mechanics in more detail]

Versions

  • Physical card game - multiple editions, hand-designed and assembled.
  • Digital multiplayer version - currently in development with Ānrán Wáng.
  • [TODO: add version history and changelog as the game develops]

A Note on Time

Hach... if only the day had more than 24 hours! This project lives in the space between research commitments - slowly, steadily, joyfully. It is probably the longest-running project in this collection and, in some ways, the one most purely made for fun.
